Direct School Admission (Secondary)

Direct School Admission for Secondary Schools (DSA-Sec): 2026 Guide

DSA-Sec lets Primary 6 students seek admission to certain secondary schools before taking the PSLE, based on interests, aptitude and potential beyond PSLE performance. This guide explains who can apply, the 2026 application dates, how choices are submitted, what selection may involve, and the commitment that follows an offer. Parents should consider their child’s strengths and interests together with the school’s programmes and ability to develop specific talents.

Frequently asked questions

Has application for 2026 DSA-Sec ended?
Yes. Application for 2026 DSA-Sec has ended. The application window was from 11am on Wednesday, 6 May 2026 to 4.30pm on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, through the DSA-Sec Portal.
Are there application fees?
No. Students apply through the DSA-Sec Portal and there are no application fees. If you cannot apply online, approach your child’s primary school for assistance. A proxy form may be used to nominate another adult if necessary.
How many school choices can a child select?
A child can select up to 3 choices and up to 2 talent areas for the same school. If applying for 2 talent areas at one school, list both as separate choices. The order of the 3 choices does not matter.
Does a DSA-Sec offer remove the need for a qualifying PSLE score?
No. Students offered placement still need a PSLE score that qualifies them for a Posting Group offered by the school. For example, if a school offers only Posting Group 3, the student needs a PSLE score within Posting Group 3, which is 4 - 22.
What happens if my child is shortlisted?
If shortlisted, your child will have to attend interviews, auditions or trials conducted by DSA-Sec schools. Shortlisted applicants must attend selection or trials in person at the schools. Selection processes and timelines differ, and meeting all criteria does not guarantee an offer.
Can a child transfer after accepting DSA-Sec admission?
No. A child admitted through DSA-Sec must honour the commitment for the duration of the programme. They are not allowed to submit school choices during S1 Posting or transfer to another secondary school after the release of the PSLE results.
How long does the DSA-Sec commitment last?
For Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC), students must participate in activities related to their selected talent area throughout Secondary 1 to 4, and the school commitment lasts Secondary 1 to 4. For Integrated Programme (IP), participation is from Year 1 to Year 4 and commitment lasts 6 years, from Year 1 to Year 6.
What if my child is not ready to commit to the school?
If your child is unsure or not ready to commit to the DSA-Sec school, do not submit any school preference. The child can still apply for secondary schools through S1 Posting at the end of the year, if eligible.
